Feng Shui for a Baby’s Nursery
Feng shui is the Chinese way of arranging things and placing furniture in a house. Chinese people believe that it brings luck to homes and families and it affects the lives of people in many ways. It has many things to do with releasing positive or negative energy in a house, thus resulting to how lucky or unlucky people can get. Feng shui has found its way to nursery rooms, too. Feng shui suggests that by arranging the room according to how positive energy should flow will create a good outlook and environment for people, especially babies.
Unlike Western tradition, Chinese tradition believes that it is unlucky to prepare a baby’s room before the mother actually gives birth to a child because the deities might be mischievous to the infant. The baby, who is a new addition to the family, should move into a space that is new and specially prepared in the last few weeks before he arrives to your house. Designing a nursery according to feng shui can make it easier for the baby to adjust from his mother’s womb to his room.
Open all the windows on a sunny day to bring in the yang energy of the sun. You can also lit some incense in a closed room, airing it out after a couple of hours. Clap or ring bells so that the space is cleared. Do this twice: once before painting the walls and a second time, the day the infant arrives home.
Using feng shui inside the baby’s room will help make babies be less picky. To add to that, your baby will also feel more at ease with his room and surroundings which will make him feel and grow healthier each day. Following fundamental considerations will help both parents and baby assemble a room that will be to the baby and the parents’ satisfaction. To take full advantage of feng shui, there are quite a lot of things to be considered– the location of the room, security and safety, colors, and the way furniture are arranged.
The location of the baby’s room should be put highly into consideration. The room should be far from anywhere noisy, such as the living room where the television is or a noisy street or neighbor. The newborn’s room should not be located over a garage or a room that has a vacant space below. It is best to keep the room from anything that might distract the baby when he is trying to sleep or rest. The room should be conducive to relaxation and rest to keep the baby healthy and at peace.
A good and soft energy movement should be maintained inside the room. The room should always be clutter free. The underneath of the crib should be free from anything. Keep the room minimal. Avoid unnecessary toys, sheets or other things that are not needed. Dirty diapers should be disposed daily, keeping the room clean everyday.
